Tournament variance is orders of magnitude higher. An MTT player with 15% ROI can easily run 500 tournaments below expectation. The Time Factor
Cash games let you play for exactly as long as you want, whether that is one hour or twelve, and you can leave at any time with no cost.
Tournaments require a time commitment. A major Sunday MTT can run 8-12 hours. Going deep means you cannot stop. This creates scheduling constraints that cash games do not have.
