About GGPoker

GGPoker is the currently fastest-growing poker site. It is the flagship operator of the GGNetwork which started in 2014. The initial focus was on the Asian market, but now GGPoker accepts players from many countries all over the world.

With peak player numbers beyond 10,000, the GGNetwork is home to very many players and is known for comparatively soft games.

GGPoker has the best and most modern software in 2023 with many unique features, a great selection of Hold’em, Omaha, and 6+ games and the software doesn’t allow the use of HUDs to safeguard the players against predatory professionals. On top of that GGPoker has a very decent rake structure for low and mid stakes (including the lowest PLO rake of all operators) and a reasonable VIP program that offers 15 – 50 percent rakeback.

GGPoker Traffic & Player Numbers

The average cash game peak traffic at GGPoker is currently 11126 players. This is the number of real money cash game players online during peak hours. More players are online at GGPoker playing tournaments and other game variants.

Below is the chart of GGPoker’s peak cash game traffic over the past years.

The chart above shows the average number (over 60 days) of real money cash game players online during peak hours for the operator. This number does not include tournament players or players in other game variants.

GGpoker Bonus and Bonus Codes

GGPoker offers a very decent sign-up bonus. New players can choose between two different types of bonuses. One is a simple $600 match bonus and the other bonus consists of 60 spin and gold tickets worth $40 plus an additional $60 for completing some easy challenges.

Match Bonus (up to $600)

The match bonus is most likely the best one for active players (i.e. grinders). Players receive up to a total of $600 bonus on the first deposits. The bonus clears at a rate of $5 per $20 rake (equivalent to 25% cash back while clearing the bonus) and you have 90 days to clear the bonus. To clear the full bonus players need to accumulate $2,400 rake.

Free Rewards Bonus (up to $100)

Recreational players most likely fare better with the Free Rewards Bonus. After a first deposit of at least $20, new players receive a total of 60 Spin and Gold tickets worth $40 over a period of 6 days. Spin and Gold tournaments are jackpot sit and gos for three players with randomly chosen prize pools.

On top of that players receive extra cash for completing daily challenges. Players simply need to play All-In or Fold hands to receive up to $60.

This bonus is perfect for low-stakes players. You receive over $50 in tickets with no strings attached and it is not difficult to play through most of the challenges to receive more cash.

Honeymoon Challenge for New Player Worth $350

GGPoker Honeymoon Challenge

GGPoker offers new players a 30-day Honeymoon Challenge which consists of 30 missions of varying difficulty. This Honeymoon Challenge is worth up to $350. This challenge is an additional bonus for new players and comes on top of the regular bonuses. The Honeymoon Challenge is valid for the first 30 days and requires the player to finish various missions.

After making their first deposit, new players have 30 days to complete a total of 30 missions. Depending on the number of completed missions players receive tournament tickets and cash. Some of the missions are extremely easy, others require some effort, and some are extremely difficult to complete. Once a certain number of missions have been successfully completed, players will receive tickets to specific tournaments, cash, or tournament dollars (which can be used for any tournament).

GGpoker Rake and Tournament Fees

GGPoker is among the better sites in regards to rake according to our extensive Online Poker Rake Comparison. For some games, GGPoker offers the lowest rake of all major sites.

How good or bad GGPoker is regarding rake heavily depends on the game and stakes you are playing:

  • Texas Hold’em: All NLH cash games are raked at a rate of 5%, which is the industry standard. The cap depends on the stakes but is generally quite a bit higher than over at PokerStars. Especially high stakes players will notice a significant rake contribution as the cap can go up to $50 for the most expensive $200 / $400 games.
  • Fast Fold: Fast Fold games (Rush & Cash) have a substantially lower cap at the lower limits (up to $0.25 / $0.50) and are cheaper than anywhere else.
  • Omaha: Omaha cash games are raked at 5% with very reasonable caps at the lower stakes. Micro stakes ($0.05 / $0.10 and $0.10 / $0.25) are capped at 3 big blinds, mid stakes (up to $1 / $2) at 2 big blinds, and stakes above are capped at 1.5 and 1 big blind. For small and low mid-stakes GGPoker is cheaper than PokerStars and only Unibet offers a lower Omaha rake.

Overall, the GGPoker rake deserves a particularly good, maybe even superb rating for the lower stakes (up to $0.50 / $1.00), especially for PLO and Fast-Fold games. For high-stakes players on the other hand GGPoker is much more expensive than all competitors. The soft competition probably makes up for that, though. These are the rake details for GGPoker:

» Online Poker Rake Comparison (for our full poker operator rake comparison)

The table above shows the amount of rake an average player pays per 100 hands for various limits and variants. You can switch the number of players per table and the game variant.

  • Rake / 100 hands: Average amount you can expect to pay in rake every 100 hands.
  • Net Rake: This is how much money you actually spend on rake compared to the pots you are playing.
  • Formal Rake: Rake percentage and cap
  • Rank: This column shows how the operator compares to all other operators (lower is better).

GGPoker Rake Rule: Collect After 3-Bet Preflop

Rake Rule

Please note: Most poker sites and casinos have a no-flop-no-drop rule: no rake is taken if there is no flop. But GGPoker rakes as soon as there was 3-bet before the flop.

Due to this policy, more pots are raked at GGPoker. We calculated the effect this has:

0.2% higher net rake

On average the net rake (average percentage in rake paid considering rake percentage and cap) is 0.2% higher when all 3-bet hands are raked compared to only hands that see a flop. This difference is noticeable, but not devastatingly high.
