This year, for the first time, the WSOP will be held online. Due to the Corona pandemic, the World Series will be held online on the GGNetwork. In cooperation with the WSOP the online poker network is planning the largest online tournament series of all time, the World Series of Poker Online 2020.

Partnership between WSOP.com and the GGNetwork
The 51st Word Series of Poker will be quite a different affair than it has been the last 50 years. Live poker is not an option in the face of a global pandemic, but there is nothing wrong with playing in your own four walls on your computer. Thus the entire World Series of Poker 2020 will be held online.
The organizers of the WSOP and GGPoker have joined forces to host the biggest poker event of the year on two platforms. Starting July 1st, an American offshoot of the WSOP will run exclusively for players from the USA on WSOP.com and starting July 19th the huge international WSOP will begin on the GGNetwork. All international players are allowed to participate and this is to be expected the biggest online poker event of all times.
WSOP Online 2020 Schedule
The WSOP Online 2020 has several highlight tournaments, albeit many variants that are usually played during the WSOP will not be available (mainly because the variants are technically not implemented yet). Below is the complete schedule and these are the most important events:
- $100 Opener: One of the cheapest WSOP bracelets of all time is available in the first tournament for a buy-in of only $100.
- $1,111 Covid Relief: Instead of donations for the One-Drop foundation, this time, donations will be collected for Caesars Care, helping the fight against the Corona Virus..
- $400 Colossus: The Colossus is available this time with a guarantee of $3,000,000. There is also a PLOssus – a PLO tournament with the same buy-in and a $1,000,000 guarantee.
- $50 Big 50: For only $50 you can grab a bracelet this year. The $50 BIG 50 guarantees a prize pool of $1m.
- $1,500 Millionaire Maker: $5,000,000 is guaranteed and the winner will take home at least $1,000,000.
- $25,000 Poker Players Championship: A massive $10,000,000 prize pool is guaranteed for this highroller tournament. While the previous live installments of this event where 10-game-events, this year’s Online Poker Players Championship will be NLH only.
- $5,000 Main Event: This year’s main event has a whopping $25,000,000 guaranteed and will be the biggest online tournament of all time (up until now this record was held by partypoker MILLIONS Main Event 2018 with a $21.8m prize pool).

Where to play the WSOP Online 2020
The Online WSOP 2020 will be held at the GGNetwork which has multiple – virtually identical skins. For example, GGPoker is one of them.
The GGNetwork is a comparatively young poker network and only entered the market in 2014. In it’s early days the network was aimed exclusively at Asian players. Even today, players from Southeast Asia are of paramount importance for the network, but the GGNetwork is now on it’s way to overtake the well-established European providers (PokerStars, 888poker, partypoker and Co.). With software that is better than PokerStars, a substantially softer field of players and a plethora of promotions, the GGNetwork already became the second largest poker network behind PokerStars.
With the WSOP, the network will certainly attract many more players and could overtake competition during the summer.
How to qualify for the WSOP 2020
GGPoker offers several ridiculously cheap ways to qualify for the WSOP 2020.
WSOP Silk Road
Starting July 1st GGPoker runs multiple Satellites per day with buy-ins ranging from $1.08 to $21.60 and guarantees up to $100,000.
WSOP Satellite Leaderboard
GGPoker (and the entire GGNetwork) runs a leaderboard for all WSOP Satellites. The winner of this leaderboard will receive a WSOP 2020 Main Event ticket (worth $5k).
WSOP Spin and Gold
For a $2 buy-in GGPoker also offers a special 3 player WSOP Spin & Gold which can pay out up to $10k.
Those are the prizes you can win there:
1st Prize | 2nd Prize | 3rd Prize | Frequency |
---|---|---|---|
$10,000 | $8,000 | $6,000 | 0.0001% |
$5k WSOP Main Event Ticket | $500 WSOP Sat Ticket | $500 WSOP Sat Ticket | 0.0055% |
$50 WSOP Sat Ticket | $10 WSOP Sat Ticket | – | 0.4045% |
$10 WSOP Sat Ticket | – | – | 10.0000% |
$6 | – | – | 20.0000% |
$4 | – | – | 69.5899% |
On average those pay-outs sum up to $5.58 per tourney (while the buy-ins sum up to $6). Meaning: Those Spin & Gold satellites are effectively raked at 7%. This is unreasonably high and probably makes those tourneys unbeatable in the long run.
$100 WSOP Deposit Bonus
If you don’t have a GGPoker account (or haven’t deposited yet), you can earn $100 in free WSOP Satellites when signing up and depositing at least $20.
Here is how the bonus works:
GGPoker WSOP Sign-Up-Bonus
- Over the course of 6 days you will receive
- Twenty $1 WSOP Satellite Tickets,
- Twenty $2 WSOP Spin & Gold Tickets,
- Six $5 WSOP Satellite Tickets (for completing a daily all-in-or-fold challenge) plus
- One $10 WSOP Satellite Ticket (for completing all 6 daily challenges).
There are no strings attached to this bonus and $60 worth of Satellite Tickets will be awarded automatically without any play requirements, the remaining $40 free tickets will be awarded when you complete the daily all-in-or-fold challenges.
